Privacy Policy

How Word to Week handles your information

This Privacy Policy applies to the Word to Week web portal and the Word to Week mobile app. It explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices available to churches, church staff, and app users.

1. Scope

Word to Week is a church engagement platform. The web portal is used by churches and church staff to upload sermon notes, create, review, schedule, and publish weekly devotional content. The mobile app is used by members to subscribe to a church feed, receive messages, configure preferences, and read weekly content.

2. Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly, information created through use of the service, and limited technical information needed to operate the platform.

In the web portal, this may include account details such as your name, email address, password credentials handled through our authentication provider, your church name, location, timezone, role title, church size, denomination, content workflow choices, church profile details, public church directory information, logo uploads, sermon notes, generated devotional drafts, edits, publication status, and other content you choose to create or store in the portal.

If you join the waitlist, we collect your email address and any church size information you provide. If your church subscribes to a paid plan, payment card processing is handled by Stripe. We may receive subscription and billing metadata such as customer IDs, plan IDs, billing status, trial status, and payment portal results, but we do not store full payment card numbers in the application code shown in this repository.

In the mobile app, we may collect or generate your name, church subscription details, church invite code or slug, anonymous authentication identifier, notification preferences, active days, time window, messages-per-day preference, belief level, focus areas, age range, optional gender and relationship status, streak data, onboarding progress, app appearance choices, widget settings, and copies of weekly feed content cached on device for performance and continuity.

We also process limited device and app information needed to run the service, such as session tokens, storage paths, and basic diagnostic information. If you choose to scan a church QR code in the mobile app, the app requests camera permission for that purpose. If you enable notifications, the app requests notification permission and schedules devotional reminders on your device. If you use the widget, the app may sync church name, weekly feed content, theme choices, and widget sync credentials to local app-group storage so the widget can render current content.

3. How we use information

We use information to provide and improve Word to Week, including to create and manage accounts, authenticate users, associate churches with staff and members, generate weekly devotional drafts, store and publish church content, deliver subscribed weekly feeds in the mobile app, personalize message selection and presentation, schedule notifications, support widgets, manage subscriptions and billing, respond to operational issues, and communicate about launch updates or account matters.

4. How church content works

Sermon notes, generated drafts, and published weekly messages are used to operate the church-specific content pipeline described in the product: sermon input, generated drafts, pastor review or editing, and published weekly feed delivery. Published content may be made available to members subscribed to that church. If a church chooses to list directory information publicly, selected church profile details such as public name, short description, listing status, share links, or logo may also be visible to other users.

5. How we share information

We do not describe selling personal information in this repository. We may share information with service providers that help us operate the platform, including Supabase for authentication, database, storage, and edge functions, and Stripe for billing and payment operations. Information may also be shared within your church context as needed to provide the service, such as making published weekly feeds available to subscribed members. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of Word to Week, churches, members, or the public.

6. Data storage and retention

Information may be stored in hosted infrastructure and on user devices. The web portal stores church and account data in hosted services. The mobile app stores profile data, preferences, and cached weekly feeds in local device storage, and widget-related data may be written to local app-group storage where applicable. We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain church feeds, manage subscriptions, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

7. Your choices

You can review and update some information directly in the web portal or mobile app, such as church profile details, account details, notification settings, app preferences, and church subscription choices. You can decline optional permissions such as camera access or notification access, although some features will not work without them. Churches control what content they upload, edit, publish, or list publicly.

8. Security

We use service providers and application controls intended to help protect information, but no method of transmission, storage, or device security is completely guaranteed. Churches and users should also protect their own account credentials and devices.

9. Children

Word to Week is built for churches, church staff, and members. If a church makes the mobile app available to younger users, the church is responsible for making sure its use is appropriate for that audience and for obtaining any permissions or notices required under applicable law.

10. International processing

Word to Week may use service providers and infrastructure located in different countries. By using the service, you understand that information may be processed and stored in jurisdictions other than your own, subject to applicable law and provider safeguards.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version at this page and update the effective date above. Continued use of Word to Week after an update takes effect means the updated policy will apply.

12. Contact

Privacy questions or requests should be directed through our support page.

This policy is intended to reflect the current product behavior visible in the repository as of March 27, 2026.
